SCRAPOHOLIC DIGITAL THURSDAY

Hello all - its digital thursday once again over at the Scrapholic

For this weeks challenge the theme is Nature and ive created a few cards using some of the digis from the range.

Over on The Scrapoholics blog is where you can get  free digi images for the challenge day ONLY  or afterwards you can contact Jill to purchase others  or the sets.
Here are  the cards that i have produced using the digi images available for this week.

The first one is my fav - its a little bee hive. I have glittered and glazed it so it stands out. The card then just cried out for a wee bee to be added but i could only find a big bee and added some sun flowers to make it look bright and cheery.

The early bird catches the worm  - dont you agree !!

A border bar of butterflies in this one.

A single butterfly image used for this one and ive added it onto a springly bouncy spiral so its dances on the card - not that you can see it though, but believe me he is dancing !

A black and white theme for this ones card base and the butterfly completely coloured in red shades and all over glitter.

If your not following me, I'd love for you to become a new follower and would appreciate it if you were to leave me a comment.

Be sure to check out my fellow Design team members projects for  Inspiration too. THE FAIRY

I found this little tale in an email that i was sent - as it had fairies and appealed to my sense of humour i have decided to post it on here - it is amusing - hope you like it !

40 years of marriage..

A married couple in their early 60s was celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary in a quiet, romantic little restaurant.
Suddenly, a tiny yet beautiful fairy appeared on their table. She said, 'For being such an exemplary married couple and for being loving to each other for all this time, I will grant you each a wish.'

The wife answered, 'Oh, I want to travel around the world with my darling husband
The fairy waved her magic wand and - poof! - two tickets for the Queen Mary II appeared in her hands.

The husband thought for a moment: 'Well, this is all very romantic, but an opportunity like this will never come again. I'm sorry my love, but my wish is to have a wife 30 years younger than me.
The wife, and the fairy, were deeply disappointed, but a wish is a wish.

So the fairy waved her magic wand and poof!...the husband became 92 years old.

The moral of this story:
Men who are ungrateful bastards should remember fairies are female.....

BOWS & BERRIES - MY NEW DT POSITION AND NEW CHALLENGE

Today is the day i debut as a new member of the DT for Bows & Berries

I was offered this postion a while ago and have been busy creating for them for the next few challenges - the girls wanted to release the new DT on the launch of their next challenge so i wasn't able to tell you sooner than today. You will love what they have got coming up over the next few challenges and hope you will join us & take part.

I have created a B&B DT tab at the top of my blog to show links to the DT members - go check them out as you will find very talented ladies.

This is Bows & Berries second challenge and this one is in the theme of Nature.
Below are my creations i have come up with using a butterfly digi from their range.
You can check out all their digi images in their shop.
All my cards have had the digi coloured in copic makers and craft work cards card stock as my base. Papers are from my stash and peel offs are from pinflair flexi bend range.

This first one the digi has been glittered ALL over and flowers & bling added for that extra sparkle.

This one has been partially glittered and bling added for the feelers.

This one is very subtle as i like the pale shades of lilac. I have glittered the whole butterfly and
added a little flower that it has just flown away from.

For this one i have only edged the outline of the digi in glitter. String pearls added as
flourishes all around for effect.

In this card i have glittered only certain parts of the digi and added hearts for feelers & as eyes on its bottom wing. Ive used a cricut cut shape as a partial border and obligatory bling.

In this one ive decided to use black and white and one colour. Ive glittered the edges of the digi and ive added it onto springy (piggie tail) bouncy spiral to make it dance on the card. Bling added as its trail.

For this one ive resized the digis and coloured them slightly differently but used glitter to edge them.
A nice spring coloured card this one and again bling added but this time pearls.

I hope you like what i have come up with for this my debut DT entry for Bows & Berries. Please do go check out the Nature blog challenge and give it ago.  We all look forward to seeing what you create.

I am starting a new job on monday 28th so i have done this posting as a pre-scheduler - hope it all works out ok as i wont be able to check on it till i get home at night. fingers crossed.

After you've created your entry, It would be nice if you could leave a comment for me and my DT to read as we take the time to create the inspirational projects so its nice to hear what you think - you could even pop on over to my DTs blogs/FB pages and leave them comments directly. You can find my DT links under the CBGM DT tab at the top of my blog.  Thanking you in advance and on behalf of all of us.

Here are our creations for this
PETS themed challenge

I personally have several entries this time around (just because i can  lol) - the first one is a Scrap page of Gypsy one of our moggies. She normally shys away from the camera but Jim captured this snap perfectly and yep that is a banana she is holding, but its a catnip one !!

The second scrap page is of our other cat Lucky. He likes to be outside but when he is inside he sits and looks at the outside - strange cat! Here he is sitting looking out our front window. This photo imagery is not good - so i will try to take another photo later and repost it.

My next entry is a card showing a  LOTV stamped girl with her little birdie that  is happily singing back to her.

This is Pamela's Scrap page of Pippa her late Bichon Frise - what a sweetie.
This is also Pam's first ever time at creating a SB Layout - didnt she do well.
I also like to take the opportunity of sending get well wishes to Pam as she's a tad poorly & "purple" just now.

Here we have Vicky's card of a pooch in its dog house. Not a very happy looking doggie as he is having to have a bath - guess he got all mucky or smelly  lol !

Next is Margaret's Scrap layout of Robbie the robin. Margaret doesn't have any pets but Robbie visited all the time and Margaret fed and  talked to him every day.  To her he was her little pet birdie. Isnt he a wee chubby !.

Lisa has created a Scrap layout of the ponies that she helped look after.
They are so adorable you just wanna pick them up and give them a cuddle!!

I hope you like what we have come up with for this PETS challenge as we have had fun creating them.

This challenge will run until  9th April  - we look forward to seeing what you come up with this time - remember its an anything goes challenge just so long as its in the theme of PETS - GOOD LUCK and happy crafting !

If you are interested in sharing some of your card creations with others worldwide and also fancy receiving some crafty in the mail  from other like minded crafters then you might like to join my RAK club - click HERE for details.

LOTV stamping day again

Today i was finishing off some LOTV images that i had ready and started to colour  - i finished them all and made up the cards this morning.
All the images are coloured in copic makers, pinflair flexi bend peel offs used and on some there are doilley and flourishes cut from my cricut.

TODAYs CHALLENGE ENTRIES

Today i am entering 3 challenges with 2 cards.

1 - The sugar Bowl - challenge #56 kiki's sketch - theme pink!

The sugar bowl entry card  is a sweet little fairy image and ive twisted the sketch around slightly. She has been coloured in copic markers and glittered everywhere !!  I have added a crown to her head which was a table decoration sprinkle! I have added sparkle also to the sentiment and to the flourishes that ive cut from the cricut cart accent essentials that ive used on the inside front. The card still opens like a normal card but the topper ive attached like a flap onto the front. Ive added some little pink flowers as the accents on top and bottom to match the sketch layout but reversed !

This next one card is for both LOTV and A gem of a challenge - one card 2 entries. A flower shaped card that i cut using my cricut and sparkling backing card. I then stamped the LOTV image and used a large circle punch to cut it out. I then mounted the  image onto mirror board card stock and cut out using fancy edge scissors and attached to the card front. The image is coloured in copic markers and glitter added for the champers and bubbles. I then edged the whole card i pinflair flexi bend peels offs and punched out some small flowers. The centres of the flowers are from craft work cards card candy. A metal congratulations sentiment and a little bow finishes it off.

MY NEW PURCHASE

Id like to share with you my new purchase from yesterday - you'd be wrong to think it was anything related to craft - in fact its not at all what you would expect  -  as its a stone !!   you are now thinking eh what ?

I visited my friend Liam who deals in crystals, stones & semi precious stone jewellery yesterday at his stall in the shopping mall & we had a nice catch up. He was showing me some of his purchases from his visit to Tuscon for the Gem fayre.  He then showed me something which i had never seen or heard of before but he knows me too well and knew i would love one.

FAIRY STONES !!

and here is my very own one.

Again you may be thinking - what the heck is this all about as its a piece of stone !  well yea it is but its the shape of the stone, as all is different and you are drawn to one that YOU like. i chose this one as to me it actually looked like a little girl fairy. See her face and how its surrounded by her hair and her arms are folded across her chest.

I am very much into the magic of fairies and native american indian culture so this is so apt for me.

Ive found a site online that tells you all about fairy stones so ive copied some lines from it for you to read.

The Native Americans have called them Fairy Stones for hundreds of years. They often carried for good luck when they went on fishing or hunting expeditions. Lovers offered the most Fairy Stones to their loved ones. The largest specimens occupied a place of honor in their homes. According to the legend, these special stones provided protection against the bad spirits. They also brought good health and prosperity to the occupants of the dwelling.

The Fairy Stones can be found at the origin of the Harricana River in western Quebec. The Native Americans found them on the beaches of James Bay where the Harricana River starts. They thought the Fairy Stones looked like biscuits, so they named the river “Harricana” because it means 'river of the biscuits'' in the Algonquin language.

Fairy Stones form on the bottom of very large lakes that formed in glacier basins. As the glacier receded, some of these Fairy Stones were deposited on the shore of the lake. The Fairy Stones are millions of years old.

Each Fairy Stone is a unique shape. Front and back are often puffy sphere shapes. Many of these stones have what might be perceived as E.T. (extraterrestial) language. In actuality, these markings are, or should I say were, either tiny worms or other organic matter that wound up in the concretions. This makes them fossils as well.

Interesting isnt it - so i guess i now own a piece of history as its a fossil and at the same time something ET ish !! how cool.

Sweet Pea and Little Claire challenges

I am creating a double post for 2 challenges im entering into this evening.

1 - In a sweet pea dream - Hello spring
2 - Little Claire - Pink and Green

Both of these challenges were really great to come up with something crafty - the colours are so great as i picked greens and yellows for my sweet pea image and the pink and green for little claire just cried out for pink elephants  - do you remember ever seeing any pink elephants - mmm or was that just me many years ago when i was young and ... oh dear i dont think we will go down that road!!
Anyway here are my creations

Both images are coloured in copic markers and ive used a cricut doilley on the sweet pea card. Both cards have pinflair flexi bend peel offs and little ribbons from mad about cards. I have of course added the obligatory glitter to the pink elephants - oh my i think ill  be seeing pink elephants tonight!!
