AHOY there me hearties,
welcome to the International Talk like a Pirate Day blog hop 19th September 2011 hosted by me, Captain Gill !
If you have arrived here to start the hop then you are on the right track. If you are here just browsing around (thank you), but would like to “hop” along with us then by all means sit back, grab a cuppa and hop along but be warned if you dont hop right the way through then you will be walking the plank!!!
The subject of this hop is Pirate Day so surprise surprise the subject is all about pirate themed projects.
- What do you say when you poke a pirate in the face ?? Eye- Eye !!
- What do you say when you poke a pirate in the face ?? Eye- Eye !!
- Did you hear about the pirate's parrot that fell in love with a duck? The bird kept saying, "Polly wants a quacker".
- Why did the pirate not learn how to bowl? He had a severe hook.
- What shivers at the bottom of the sea? a nervous wreck
- What's the worse nightmare for a pirate on a blind date? a sunken chest with no booty
Ok get on with it i hear you say !!!
Avast ye - here are my projects - i have created some cards and scrapbook layouts. But first are the cards.
This is a sweet pea lady pirate image coloured in copics and glittered. Very simple matting and layering onto sea paper with buttons and a simple sentiment with a bow.
I have used the same image here but cut it out and mounted it onto some sea and ripped beach paper.
I have cut a pirate ship from a cricut cart and added some shells for embellishment.
Here is another sweet pea image where i have cut her out and added her onto the sea and beach scene a skull cut from a cricut cart. Black peel offs, gems and a button with raffia added as embellishments to suit.
My last card is two Make it crafty digi png files that i was able to merge together before printing them. Ive coloured the image in copic markers, then matted it onto oval matts and covered the card in DCVW rockstar paper. Ive created a sentiment and then used 2 different punches to matt and layer it. A little bow added as a finishing touch.
Next i have an easel pink pirate and cat card. This is a lovely little stamp set of a lady pirate with her cat and i thought of myself when i saw it as i dressed up as a pirate not so long ago and i had gypsy sitting at my feet so this one just had to be done ! I have coloured it all in copics of pinks and reds - just cause thats so me.
Glitter and bling added for effect and have a sentiment and 2 flower circles as the stopper for the easel.
I have used the same stamped image here but just done it differently, used feathers,a heart hat pin and a button as embellishments.
Next i have a pirate rocker card - this is such a cool card style. I have added the top part onto the bottom rocker then added the topper flag and decorated with the decoupage layer and bling
This is the back of the card
This next one is a LOTV image stamped and coloured with spectrum noir pens then added glossy accents glaze on top
Another LOTV stamp here of a teddy bear pirate - do you remember those days of making things out of cardboard boxes and we were happy !
Next i have created a layout which is from last years holiday to Majorca and about the Pirates Show. The photos show the exterior of the building - photo one is the pirate statue at the entrance, image two is the skull carved in the rocks and image 3 is the waterfall at the side of the entrance. We were not allowed to take photos inside the show as you were able to purchase publicity shots and a dvd. It was far too dark inside even if you wanted too !! It was a fantastic show with lots of acrobats and dancers - so much going on - heres the link if anyone is interested in checking it out. If you are ever in Majorca it is a MUST see show.
Next i have created a pirates chest and filled it full of bling !
These are pics of it empty from front and side views.
Now ive saved the funniest till last. Yep this is me from a few years ago when i got dressed up as a pirate - not many people actually witnessed this but hey ho here it is for all to see !!
I know you cant see it too well in the photos but my eye patch is made of swarowski crystals and was SO heavy on my eye!
My outfit is a jacket, bustiere top and skirt made out of black velvet with lace and red satin on the skirt which i had custom made. I have a skull and crossbones choker around my neck also in black velvet, a sword wrapped in its sheath and a treasure booty bag. My boots also have red tie ups at the back to match my skirt but you cant see them in the photo unfortunately.
Do i make a fitting pirate then ???
So there we have it – my Pirate Day hop entries – hope you like them and i gave you a giggle at the end. I would appreciate it if you could leave me a comment. If you do like what you see and wanna see more then id love it if you would become one of my ever growing list of followers. I have blog candy giveaways on a regular basis, I run 2 challenges a month and have a Birthday & RAK club for you to take part in.
Now back to the hop - there are a lot of talented crafty people on this hop and I hope you enjoy looking through their entries.
