Hello everyone, im excited to be hosting the National Fairy Day blog hop 24th and 25th June 2011.
This is day 2 so If you have arrived here for this hop then you are either on the right track to start the day 2 hop or you need to go back a post for day one. If you are here just browsing around (thank you), but would like to “hop” or should i say “fly” along with us then please start right here and move on down the list – the line up can be found at the bottom of this posting.
I am away for the 2 days of this hop so i do hope all goes smoothly but as there are participants from all over the world there could be time delays for posts to appear so please be patient and check back later. Thanks
The theme for this hop is National Fairy Day so our projects had to be creations depicting Fairies in any shape, form or style.
On day ones posting i gave you the reason for me selecting Candytuft as the image for my projects and i told you her song – if you want to read it again then please refer back to the day one hop post.
While you are going through all the blogs in this hop there are hidden letters for you to collect along the way and after the 2 days unscramble them to form a fairy related word where you need to return to my blog and complete a mr linky entry - not revealing the word until a winner is selected and i will contact you to reveal the fairy word. If the word is revealed correctly then the candy is won.
My first project for Day 2 is a hanging lantern.

I printed out all the relevant templates and cut them out. These were the sides , top and bottom of the lantern. I assembled all but the top and glued together with pinflair. The lantern then had acetate added as the imitation glass panelling and sprayed with multicoloured glitter spray. Peel offs were added all around the lantern for effect.
I then printed the candy tuft decoupage sheet twice. Once in one way then flipped it and printed it reverse so when assembled i could have a double sided image of her. I cut and assembled all the element layers and glued with pinflair and attached to the bottom of the lantern.
I then added some flowers inside too so it looked like she was sitting among them.
Now i returned to the templates and assembled the top of the lantern, adding glitter card, peel offs and made a hole down the centre.
I took a silver coloured chain and attached it to the inside of the lid and secured it with pinflair. The chain was long enough to be able to hang the lantern up so it could swing.
The lid was then glued to the body of the lantern. This then needed to be decorated with flowers and ribbons and butterflies as it looked rather bare.
Voila a completed fairy lantern!
Project 2 is a fairy window scene again printed from the crafters companion flower fairy 3d model cd.
I assembled all the templates to create the main window box area and edged in pinflair peel offs. I then printed a fairy type background paper and attached to the inside and bottom of the box.
Next was to print the fairies themselves and decide where they were to sit. Some are decoupaged so layering and glueing necessary.
I folded small pices of acetate into cube shapes and attached to the back of the faires to attach to the window back.
Accetate was used as it is clear and wouldn’t show like 3d foam plus it meant if the faires were touched the would move.
Once all the fairies were in place i then added extra flowers.
Now i cut out the windows themselves. I have let them cut out as didn’t use acetate this time.
Attached the frames to the inside of the window and that was it. The frames then decorated with peel off edges and gems as handles. Flowers and butterflies added also.
What i have done here is paint the holder in pink emulsion paint and allow to dry.
While waiting for it to dry i stamped out the image and coloured it in copic sketch markers then I then used glitter and glaze for highlighting the wings and flowers.
Now on to my last project which is 3 quick easy cards.
What i have done for this first one is use a card blank from a flower fairies dufex kit, cut out 3 dufex topper and mount them on the card. The image of candytuft has got 3d foam added to make it elevated.
I have added some bling down the left hand side.
I have popped out 2 die cut butterflies from the flower fairy candy tuft sheet and applied pinflair to them to make them stand out. I have then added a little pink flower gem.
10 mins to make - How simple is that then!
For this one i have used pinflairs matchits range.
This first one is in gold.
What you get is images of all the flower fairies and then peel off outlines.
I have taken the candytuft image and over the top of it put the matchit peel off.
I have put 3d foam on the back of it to make it stand out. The backing paper is from a free paper stack, craft work cards card candy gold blobs, pinflair flexi bend peel offs, glitter on her wings and 3 buttons with a bow for decoration.
Another simple yet effective 10 minute make card.
For this last card i have again used a backing paper from a free stack. This time the matchit is in silver.
I have added some craft works candy blobs in co-ordinating colours and silver flexi bend peels offs and 6 silver gems and bow. I have added some glitter to her wings.
Yet another simple 10 minute make card.
Now for my last project i have chosen to decorate some letters for my craft room - i have purchased some white letters and used the technique of decopatch i have covered them with the ripped up paper to decorate them. I have also added a few butterflies on some of the letters just for effect.
Ok thats another 7 projects for today but unfortunately its the last of my fairy projects for this 2 day blog hop (or fly as im calling it). Thats a total of 14 projects ive shown on this hop - ive outdone myself !!
I am fairy mad so ive thoroughly enjoyed making my projects and i could have kept going and going and going – which i did as some of my unshown projects can be seen in the "for the love of pink" hop for my birthday taking place on 1st July.
I hope you like what youve seen over the past 2 days and id appreciate it if you could leave me a comment.
